No commercial benefits are generated by this website, which is a non-profit making venture, and is purely a labour of love. Many images have appeared in numerous and similar publications with varying reproductive quality, over the course of the past 150 years. In most cases, these books are either out of print, or the publications company is no longer trading. Images have been enhanced and digitally restored where required and possible, to present the best possible quality.

A lot of images have no copyright information, are very rare, and some (private and public submissions) are exclusive to this site. I am not able to providing a citation for every source of information, or a credit for every image, but will add them on request if your work appears on this site. However; to provide recognition for the work carried out by established historians, I have created a Reference page, containing details of about half of the traceable sources used in the creation of this site.

I'm always pleased to accept good quality images for inclusion on the site, and will add a credit for each one submitted. I have already incorporated many images submitted to the site over the years. These images are unique to this site and will not be found in any publication. If you do find one of your images on this site and want it removed, please contact me. However, I do ask that you to allow the publication of your work, so that everyone may benefit from it.

I have never encountered a problem with granting use of images in the past, however some people have taken to passing my, and others work off, as their own.

Each submission is credited both in the A to Z index page, and on each individual image.
Each submission becomes my digital intellectual property for use on this site, but will not be sold, redistributed, or credited as my own.
The original source of these images remains the copyright of the individual who has submitted them.

I am obliged to protect the copyright of images which have been privately donated to me, and who have offered their most gratefully received permission to display their work.
