This routes takes in the Ely Cycle lane, which runs through Fairwater, alongside the River Ely and railway, to St. Fagans.  Once past the level crossing and up the particularly perilous Michaelston Road to the Drope, the route takes you through the tranquil lanes of St. Georges.  Once you've negotiated the very steep tracks up to the A48, it's downhill all the way back to the Castle.  Not a route for the inexperienced!
