Hi there - as part of the never ending list of site updates that I have to do, one of the jobs included uploading quite a few new images of the Roath area from the late 19th Century.  Don't have any of Wordsworth Avenue yet, but I'll keep an eye out for you.

All the best, Matthew

Hi,
I will keep coming back to the site......have yet to visit the library to see if there are any photos.
The street was built between 1860-1870 and was occupied by middle to upper class people.
I am sure there must have been some photos taken...there are photos of Newport Road which is around the corner, showing the houses that were built at the same time ( sadly no longer there ) the site now occupied by flats and a nursing home.
Wordsworth Avenue was known as Wordsworth Street when built and the streets branching off it are Southey street, Woodland Place and Cowper Place.
As stated...will visit library to do some research...tim e allowing.

Many thanks Smiley

Hi - no images as of yet, but did want to post a link to Google Street maps.  If you pan around, you will see the entrance to Woodland Street.  I have never been up there and until you mentioned it - had no idea it existed!  I will be taking a pictures if possible and posting them either here, or on the site.  In the meantime - will also do some research on Wordsworth Street.  I do have a map of it in 1886 on which I've highlighted the streets.
