29th Sept. 2007
- As usual I underestimated the amount of time it'd take to
update the site. I am pleased to say that I am getting an
increasing amount of e-mails these days, all of them very
positive in nature! Many thanks to everyone who have
written
so many kind words.
- I've finally completed all the gallery upgrades and a
total of 24 new images were added in the process.
All pages are now XHTML 1.0 and CSS 1.0 compliant, and display correctly in Firefox, Safari, and of course Internet
Explorer. That just leaves the Suburbs pages.
- This site has been officially recognised in a new book
called 'Haunted Cardiff and the Valleys', published by Tempus.
Steve Cluer, Chairman of 'South Wales Paranormal Research', and
I collaborated by e-mail to provide some images for his new book, and this site and I got a credit in the
acknowledgements section. Many thanks Steve - the book's a great read!

1st July 2007
- The gallery pages are now undergoing an upgrade to be
made web standards compliant. As a result, I have been
able to add new images to the Adamsdown, Caerau, and Canton
pages. The upgrade should be completed by Mid July.
The suburbs pages are then the last ones that need new content and
upgrading.

29th May 2007
- The site is now just over two years old and this is my first
update entry for nine months. I have been very busy with
other things and have as a result left the site unattended for
quite some time. I have created a new site for a Church
Parish in West Glamorgan (www.westvalecatholics.co.uk),
which I maintain weekly. This charity work, as well as a
new job, has taken a lot of my spare time up.
- I have not given up on this site - it's just that this
particularly hobby is very time consuming. Since Internet
Explorer 7.0 was released, I have been having problems with my
Flash Menus. My code was not clean enough for many
mainstream browsers so I have spent my time reading up on
XHTML1.0, PHP and CSS.
- Now the main pages on this site are valid XHTML1.0 with new
graphics, new CSS menus have been added, and I've finally got
around to doing a contact page. I WILL get around to
adding more images, and more for the suburbs and cardiffians
pages. Ensuring that the site is accessible to all, is
currently more important than providing additional content.
Previous visitors will notice what I hope is a more streamlined,
simplistic looking style.
- I have also removed some of the comments from earlier
updates, mainly for being just plain boring!

29th August 2006
- New page added to the Suburbs section (Cyncoed and
Lakeside)
- 19 new images to added to various galleries, with most of
them going in the City Centre section, which now has eight
pages.
24th August
- New photos added to the Coryton and Whitchurch page.
- Added a new biography to the Famous Cardiffians page.
2nd August
- All main pages rewritten to comply with the HTML 4.01 and
CSS WC3 web standards.
- I've noticed now with 'validated pages', the site is easier
to update and maintain. It will also make search engine robots'
jobs easier as they are scanning through clean code. The
timeline page did have over 1,600 errors! Now I know why Google
took it's time indexing the site.
- I have removed the Guestbook due to spamming problems.
8th June
- Problems with Google indexing the site, so need to learn how
to produce clean, efficient code to resolve the issue.
- The site has now picked up over 50 links. Not many by
a lot of standards, but personally I am pleased with the result.
26th May
- Google has dropped the number
of pages it indexes on this site from about 60 to just 5! Even
without the use of a Site Map, Google had been indexing these pages
without a problem since October 2005.
- I have now created a long overdue Sitemap which should
resolve this issue.
17th May
- The 'Famous' Cardiffians page has been completed and so
far has four celebrities listed.
- Thanks go to those who have e-mailed me, and left in my
guestbook, so many kind comments about the site. I am pleased that people are
enjoying my work, including Brian Lee! (Author of 'Cardiff: Those
Were The Days' and 'A Cardiff Century' amongst others).
- The site received over 58,000 hits during April 2006.
The highest since it's launch.
19th March
- Added a bit more to the Timeline, and thanks to everyone who
signed my Guestbook.
- Decided to remove the 'Street Index' section of the
site. It will not really serve any useful purpose, as there is
nothing better than a reliable portable A-Z street atlas!
- I have also slightly
redesigned some of the Gallery pages with a larger Navigation menu,
for users who may have found the writing too small.
18th February
- The guestbook is gaining signatures every week - thanks to
all who have left comments.
- A large new batch of
photographs (71 in total) have been added. Most of the new photos
are of the City Centre.
- New links to each photo have been added. If you wish to add
an images, please remember that all contributions are
credited.
5th February
- Another 12 years worth of history was added to the timeline
this weekend. Thanks for Adam and Charlotte for all their help!
- The 'A to Z Image Index Page' has been finally completed and
all links are active.
- Also, the guestbook has started to fill up - thank you to
everyone for your kind comments.
1st February
- The homepage has been re-coded slightly to reduce the 'spare
junk code' that Microsoft FrontPage seems to enjoy adding in
irregular places.
- 5 new photos have been added to the Caerau page.
- The links on the A-Z image index page will soon be complete.
15th January
- The Timeline is filling out nicely now, and I
have added additional navigation links.
- I have
added more sites of interest to the Links Page, and I have added a
guestbook to the front page.
1st January 2006
- Still no new photos put on the site, but other pages have been
tweaked and updated.
24th October
- Thanks go to my
Brother Adam, who spent many hours of the weekend just gone, going through
my notes and books, and adding the information to the Timeline.
19th October
- The new Main Navigation menus have finally been added, and
are done in Flash.
16th October
- I have been adding and removing various buttons for
ideas that I have had, but decided to disregard due to the length of
time involved in getting the pages up in a reasonable amount of
time. I have narrowed these ideas down, and will work on them in the
next year.
19th September
- After 5 months, Google has finally been indexed by Google.
I will need to work on the coding of my pages, but at this
stage, I have learnt the bare basics of HTML. There is a
long way to go!
- The A-Z index page is up and running, but the hyperlinks are not yet
active.
- I will also be creating a page dedicated to Cardiff's Timeline
where most of the information will be taken from the
collection of history books that I own. I will not be citing
sources - there are too many but will eventually add a list of
the books I used in the process, towards the sites completion.
20th July
- Javascript has been used to create
an interactive image gallery, providing both simpler viewing of
thumbnails and larger images, with reduced loading times.
- Also, the format of many pages have changed, to provide
better level of control over text sizes, therefore improving
readability and less strain on the eyes.
25th June
- New site history page added, and new photos on the Roath &
Penylan and Canton pages.
